DJGold is one of the names of reference in Portugal and in the hip hop world in Europe. I am professional and talented, and have built a career stamped by the quality of my innovative style.
My music talent began in the early 1990’s in London when I studied Sound Engineering. I was also influenced by the music culture in England, one of the biggest music capitals in the world. I established contacts with some of the most well known names in the Reggae & Ragga scenes in London (Misty Bass Crew, Sound Alert Crew & Hot Sound Crew). I didn’t just understand them, I learnt how to identify and define my own unique style, and that was when I began to incorporate Soul, Funk, R&B and Hip Hop at the beginning of my DJ career.
I began playing in various Pubs and Bars, and as I became more established, I included playing in big Clubs (Ritz, Club No1 & The Hot), and of course, private parties.
By the late 1990’s, I relocated to Portugal. At the time, the Hip Hop culture in Portugal had negative stereotypes, which was very different to what I was accustomed to in London. However, that did not deter me, and I began researching appropriate venues to play as a R&B, Hip Hop and Ragga DJ.
As my contact list increased, I was invited to play in one of the largest House music clubs in Portugal as an R&B DJ. Whilst there, I liaised with Rappers and was invited to Festivals. By 2000, I was being invited to play in other European countries, including Spain, France and Germany as an established R&B DJ. During that time, I worked with artists such as Bob Sinclair, Gabaru, SP Wilson and Connection. I also worked with various DJ’s, including Cut Killer, Cruz Fader, Stickup, Assasin, Assasino, Cone, Paulo Leite and many more.
I returned to London, England in the summer of 2008, and continue to travel the European continent as a DJ. Since being in the UK, I continue to play for private parties and various bars.
