RECENTLY I FIND THAT I AM SPECIALISING MORE AND MORE AS A BURLESQUE DeeJay...AS YOU CAN SEE FROM MY PHOTOS I'M NOT ADVERSE TO BECOMING A ZOMBIE DOCTOR or SATAN for yor night. I will play 50s Rhythm n Blues, Rock n Roll, DooWop, Punk, Gothic Clasics, 80s Alternative, BLITZ CLUB to THE BATCAVE to KLUB FOOT to THE HACIENDA to CASTLE MOORTON.... I can recreate them all. Quite often rarities with classics and "anthems" mixed in. I AM deffo NOT A POP DJ, THE ONLY CHART I PLAY ARE INDIE ANTHEMS, MOST OF MY INDIE HASNT EVEN BEEN RELEASED YET. I DO NOT OWN ANY CASCADA CRAZY FROG OR THE GREASE MEGAMIX, I CAN HOWEVER PLAY SOME REAL UNDERGROUND DANCE MUSIC AND PROPER ROCK 'n' ROLL WHICH WILL NOT LET YOUR FEET STOP. I'VE ADDED THIS AS I NO LONGER WISH TO EXPLAIN THIS TO CALLERS.
I qualified as a DJ aged 15 at our local youthclub.... a few years later! I am probably the most prolific INDIE & ALTERNATIVE DJ based in Cleethorpes/Grimsby.I do play some OLD SKOOL rave from 88-92 but mostly I avoid cheesey stuff like the plague. I ain't dissing Dance Music, far from it... In fact I went to a Rave or FreeParty or Club or Festival every weekend for 10 years, Its just that, my musical horizons date to a time b4 house. Yes I was there when it all started (88 to be precise) however this site is full of House/Techno/Rave DJs with much more to offer than me IN THAT GENRE!! From 2002 to 2005 I only DJ'd on the NewBreed RnB/Popcorn circuit. This was/is an underground offshoot of the Northern Soul Scene allthough it was populated by MODS SOULIES and `ROCKABILLYS. The music played is somewhere between Rock and Roll and `Soul thus I am fluent in both lingos as well as the very esoteric Popcorn. I played at THEE BEAT gigs in Grimsby from 05 to 08. These were/are nights I promoted with my wife to fill a void for INDIE nights when demand was massive. I have also played regular Wednesdays/Thursdays/Fridays with Indie or Alternative bands for other promoters and I have a monthly marathon 7 hour set in a popular sea front bar where I go through 50years of MUSIC on rare vinyl making people dance and have fun!!! 50's Risque Doo-Wop to Next months INDIE/ELECTRO via 6Ts Latin boogaloo and 80s Synth pOp... I get sent all the latest Indie/Alternative and Electro tracks months before their official release, not to mention the studio quality WAV files which are coming through. I have recently updated my rig to add better MP3/WAV capabilities. If required I still use record decks, especially for vintage vinyl, I know my new mixer and DNS1200s will emulate vinyl but I love that analogue warmth. Not only that punters and partygoers RELISH seeing the records spin, And I mean young and old. Add to that the existence of various ELECTRO and OLD SKOOL trax on VINYL only and you will understand why I cant change over completely. I am known for playing THEE most upfront Indie Dance Music there is. I am old enough to have gone to the Hacienda but cool enuff to play Hot Chip!! I have also played SCOOTER (Vespa/Lambretta NOT the high pitched gErmans) rallies, MOD CLUBS (vintage RnB) and Northern Soul allniters. (99-04) I am now also the resident DJ for The Cats Pyjamas Burlesque in Grimsby. Here my love of 1940s,50s & 6Ts Rockin' Blues and DooWop comes to the fore.
If theres a PUNK band playing locally I DJ, likewise with Rockabilly bands.I have been at the forefront of INDIE Djing since my days as a Scooterist DJ. Even b4 I started getting sent promos I was playing certain standout tracks long b4 anyone else locally. I have a very good nose for Indie dancefloor, and the new bands that will get them jigging. I also have a vast repetoire of left field music ranging from er... Leftfield feat John Lydon to £200 RnB 45s from the early 60s. As well as my various Indie/Alternative experience (supporting Parka,The Brightlights,Billy The Kid,Devilish Presley,The Mayfairs + hundreds of unsigned bands) I have played such diverse sets as Goth nights, Psychobilly Nights, Same sex weddings (80s synth pop extravaganza!!!), christenings (Tamla Motown!!!) Punk 21st Birthday Partys, Scooter Boys 50th birthday ... not to mention on the same lineup as Marky Ramone, Carl Willingham and Pete Townsends younger brother (and The Who's 2nd guitarist) Simon. I spin rare vinyl by The Strokes, Muddy Waters, The Libertines,Roscoe Gordon, The Jam.... Stone Roses,Simon Harris, Foals... CDs by Portishead,The Subways,Reef... DJ only MP3s by Hadouken,Black Kids.... As well as my speciality of rare and classic African American Danse Music from 1950 to 1980.

Music Description and Mixing Style
I play a 100% UNIQUE mix of tunes, often tailored PRECISELY to the venue or occasion. However heres a rundown of some of what I do.
   As a BURLESQUE DJ I usually amaze people with my selection of tunes, an awesome mix of GARAGE PUNK from US top 40 hits to the exceedingly RARE, plenty of old fashioned good fun ROCK n ROLL covering EVERY aspect of the Fifties AND of course some dark and sleazy psychobilly.

    When I freestyle beside the seaside you will hear some badass raregrooves from every corner of the African American book of BOOGALOO... Northern Soul 'niter tunes entwine with SWEATY LATIN JAZZ, vintage RHYTHM n BLUES and CHICAGO HOUSE. DIRTY FUNK collides with ELECTROPOP and VINTAGE FREE PARTY TUNES. I'll chuck some 80s DEF JAM or 70s SUGARHILL in for laffs.

   PUNK is one of my specialitys. I've worked with many great punk outfits and my old 1977 vinyl 45s always love to get an outing, not forgetting those Blink182 & GreenDay CDs. I love rare stuff and I always get a few folk at gigs running up after a long forgotton punk anthem asking for more info. Vive le Rock

   I can spin Electro, Old Skool and Acid House all night if I'm asked from the latest promos to mental anthems from those warehouse daze. Whilst I no way claim to be a skilled skratcher or beat matcher I do have a few tricks up my sleeve.

SOMETIMES you'll get as many Indie, Brit Pop, Baggy and Mod classics and newies as you can handle in any guitar fuelled evening.

   If you need a GOTHIC DJ I have a vast selection of GOTH-ROCK from its inseption at the BatCave in the 80's to Marilyn Mansons latest offerings. Via CYBERGOTH-DARKWAVE and some pretty dark METAL

Speaking of metal I have most great rock classics to hand as well.

Microphone Etiquette
I am confident with Shout Outs, Greetings and Last Orders.I'll big up new tracks if the crowd is right aswell. HOWEVER Ideally I prefer the music to do the talking.

Detailed Equipment I Can Supply
I use 2 Denon DNS1200s CD/MP3/MIDI controllers

with the incredible Behringer DDM4000 which also has midi capabilities and incredible effects in custom made matching flightcase. Also a tiny but powerful Toshiba portege pentium4m/centrino powered laptop equipped with TRAKTOR3 DJ Studio (& DSSDJ for backup) I use a 320gig shock proof portable drive for music storage, BUT If you have a list of say 10 tunes you deffo want me to play put them on a memory stick,SD card,CDR or ipod and its a doddle for me to play them, via the Denons,mixer or laptop. I also have a spare channel on the 4CH mixer for customer Ipods or music storage Phones. I carry leads and adapters to cover (possibly) any eventuality. A choice of two stands for the Mixer/CDJS:- one smaller for CDJs / MIXER only or the larger one which has overhead light gantry, and can accommodate record decks as well and Laptop. Balanced XLR condenser mic (& spare) 1300watt powered subbass + 300w satelite speakers. I can always get hold of much larger rigs if bigger venues are to be filled with noise, at a price obviously.

Equipment I Require To Perform
I have all my own rig, however using your venues in house PA will allow me to drop my price. I prefer not to use any DJ equipment but mine if possible because of several previous bad experiences where I was assured everything was top quality and working and the opposite was true. (you know who you are) I can supply a fully functioning stand alone vintage/retro or alternative disco.
